PASTEURIZED VS UNPASTEURIZED VINEGAR

Most apple cider vinegars from the grocery store have been pasteurized and filtered to make store-bought vinegar more visually appealing to the consumer.  Unfortunately, the heat of pasteurization destroys the healthy properties of natural, unpasteurized vinegar.

Unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in its natural form, like Rockbridge Cider Vinegar, is a rich, amber color that has a cloudy appearance from the "mother" of vinegar.  The mother of vinegar is where all the healthy vitamins, minerals and enzymes in apple cider vinegar are found. Pasteurizing apple cider vinegar removes the mother of vinegar.  Rockbridge Cider vinegar preserves the healthy, mother of vinegar. Our apple cider vinegars are naturally unfiltered and unpasteurized.

Apple Cider Vinegar is delicious as a refreshing beverage, in salads, as a marinade for pork, seafood or chicken and in countless other recipes. Unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar also has many health benefits:

Apple cider vinegar can help you lose weight.  A tablespoon taken before a meal suppresses your appetite, increases your metabolism, and reduces water retention.
For an upset stomach, sip a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water. If it’s a bacterial infection, the antibiotics in the vinegar can help.

Before eating foods that might upset your stomach later, add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of honey to a glass of warm water and drink it about half an hour before you eat.

If you’re feeling exhausted after a workout, add a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your glass of water. It contains potassium and enzymes, and the amino acids can act as an antidote to the build up of lactic acid in your system.

For leg cramps that wake you up in the night, add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a little honey to a glass of warm water.

Drinking one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water can help drain your sinuses.
When you start feeling a sore throat coming on, gargle ¼ cup apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup warm water every hour—the acidic environment vinegar creates kills most germs.
Soothe sunburn with apple cider vinegar by massaging into the affected area.
